- LIBRARY 2100 Question Everything: Navigating Information Overload (Fall 2023 / 11:00 TTH)
- This course, part of the new Critical Thinking and Informational Literacy UNIFI certificate to be offered starting in Fall 2023, is interdisciplinary, discussion-based, no tests, and is designed to help students work through thinking about the world of information we experience in a collaborative and supportive environment. It builds intentional self-reflection into learning so that students can apply what they learn to their lives.
- The class is designed to give students space to explore and ask questions about contemporary issues in information. This includes asking questions about artificial intelligence (see: ChatGPT as a relevant example), Google, smartphones, social media and other forms and access points for information. It is grounded with a variety of disciplinary perspectives to allow for a wide-ranging look at how individuals can approach questions related to information and helps prepare students for life beyond university-based information needs like research papers and other assignments.
