Academic Dates to Note

- Registration Dates for Summer/Fall 2025 by Classification
- April 7, 2025 - Sophomores | April 11, 2025 - Freshman | April 16, 2025 - Unclassified
- Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 4:30 pm.
- Full Semester: Last Date to Drop with a "W" (instead of a "F")
- The Drop Form is used for dropping courses once the term has begun. It is available to submit in person (with a photo ID) or via email.
- Send the completed form (with signatures, only if required) to registrar@uni.edu from the student's UNI email.
- All forms received from personal (non-UNI) emails will not be accepted.
- Full Semester: Last Date to Change To or From Credit/No Credit
- Use the Credit/No Credit Request form for an undergraduate student who would like to change a course from a graded basis to a credit/no credit basis.
- Full Semester: Last Date to Drop with a "W" (instead of a "F")
Accessing Your Advisee Information
- Academic advisors can individually view advisee's registration information in their Student Center or you may view a query report of all of your advisee's information through MyUNIverse - Reporting tab - Academic Reports (MyAdvisees) and these reports by folder:
- Advisee Lists "Assigned": Currently Enrolled Advisees.
- Test Scores "Assigned"" ALEKS Test Scores
- Term Registration "Assigned": Not Enrolled | Not Enrolled with Appointment | Not Full Time | Advisees with Holds
- Progress to Degree "Assigned": Foreign Lang Needs

University Requirements for Graduation (note that not all requirements for graduation are listed below)
- See complete and detailed information for the requirements for graduation. These are in addition to the completion of one of the baccalaureate degree programs and apply to all undergraduate students seeking any bachelor's degree, other than the Bachelor of Liberal Studies and Cooperative Programs.
- A student should visit with their Record Analyst in the Office of the Registration for a graduation requirement verification.

- Unit Requirements for Graduation
- A minimum number of 120 credit hours is required for most all bachelor programs (exception Bachelor of Fine Arts degree).
- Residence Credit Requirement
- At least 32 hours of credit earned in the junior and senior years in courses at this university.
- After 59 credit hours, a student needs 32 hours of credits at UNI in undergraduate courses and must be graded.
- For students with graduate credit, check with the record analyst in the Office of the Registrar.

- At least 32 hours of credit earned in the junior and senior years in courses at this university.
- Grade Point Average
- Non-teaching majors: A student seeking the bachelor's degree (without licensure) must achieve a cumulative grade index in all work attempted at this university and elsewhere, of at least 2.00 to be recommended for graduation; the student must also achieve a cumulative grade index of 2.00 on all work attempted at the University of Northern Iowa.
- Teaching majors: A student seeking the bachelor's degree with licensure to teach must successfully complete student teaching and achieve a cumulative grade index in all course work attempted at this university and elsewhere, of at least 2.50 to be recommended for graduation. The student must also achieve a cumulative grade index of 2.50 on all work attempted at the University of Northern Iowa.
- Note: A student may be held by their academic department to specific grade point requirements, for the major work and/or graduation, which are higher than the grade point requirements for all university students. Students are advised to refer to the requirements for their specific major.
- Foreign Language Competency Requirement
- Students entering UNI who graduated from high school in 1989 or later are required to demonstrate a level of competence in a foreign language (classical or modern) equivalent to the second semester at the college level. One year of foreign language in high school is considered to be equivalent to one semester of foreign language at the university.
- The foreign language competency requirement can be satisfied using credit in the following ways:
- satisfactory* completion of two years of high school study in one foreign language.
- satisfactory* completion of a combination of high school and college credit in one language equivalent to the second semester at the college level.
- satisfactory performance in an achievement examination measuring proficiency equivalent to the second semester of college study in one foreign language.
- satisfactory* completion of either two years of high school study or one year of college credit or the combined equivalent in American Sign Language (ASL). Study in any other language and culture for the hearing impaired will not automatically satisfy this graduation requirement.
- * Satisfactory completion means a minimum grade of C- in the last course taken to meet this requirement.
