Semester Dates to Observe
  • See details and academic and schedule adjustment deadlines at the Office of the Registrar Calendar Dates to Observe.
    • Friday, October 18, 2024
      • First Half Semester Ends
    • Monday, October 21, 2024
      • Second-Half Semester Begins at 8:00 a.m.
        • Students enrolled in section 9X (e.g. Section 90) of any course will start attending classes this week.
           
Majors in Minutes
  • The Office of Academic Advising will be hosting Majors in Minutes on Tuesday, October 29, 2024  7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Maucker Union Ballrooms.
  • This annual fall semester event connects students with peers in academic majors from throughout UNI to learn more about their field of study!
  • Using a group, speed-dating format, students can explore various majors by engaging in discussions, reviewing information, and asking questions with current students in those programs. They can visit as many or as few majors as they wish!
  • Why should all students be encouraged to attend Majors in Minutes?
    • To confirm their currently declared major choice
    • Explore options to add a second (or third) major or minors/certificates to their current academic program
    • They are thinking about changing their major
    • They know they want to change their major
       
Academic Success Workshops for Students
  • Academic Success Workshopsoffered by The Learning Center@Rod Library, are held every Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Rod Library 272.
    • October 15 - Midterm Prep
      • Strategies to effectively prep for midterms. Get personalized assistance as you make your study schedule.
    • October 22 - Effective Study Habits
      • Study smarter, not harder. Learn how the study cycle and Bloom's Taxonomy can help you master material.
         
Registration TIQs (Tips, Information and Questions)
  • As Spring 2025 advanced registration is now three weeks away for graduate students and seniors, each week through November 18 we will include semester registration TIQs (tips, information and questions) in this email:
    • What information should a student know in their Student Center in MyUNIverse?
      • Academic Advisors can view this information for their assigned advisees through Advisor Center by selecting "View Student Details" for a specific student from the list.
        • See the image at the end of this message for a sample of these areas in Student Center.
      • Registration HoldsStudent Center Information
        • If a student has any items listed in the Holds box, they should select "Details" for specific information and the office to contact for assistance.
        • Holds must be removed before they can register for classes.
          • Note that not all items listed in the Holds box will prevent registration.  See Student Account Holds and Service Indicators (Office of the Registrar) for information on holds/indicators that may affect their registration status.
      • To Do List
        • If a student has any items listed in the To Do box, they should select "More" for specific information and the office to contact for assistance.
      • Enrollment Date and Time
        • By selecting "Details" in the Enrollment Dates box, the student can view their specific date and time to begin your registration for next semester classes.
        • The student should be encouraged to meet their assigned academic advisor prior to this date and time to discuss your planned semester courses and have their advisor hold removed (if applicable).
        • Times are assigned between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Monday - Friday within the advance registration period.
      • Academic Advisor
        • By selecting “Details” in the Advisor box, the student can view contact information for their assigned academic advisor
    • How can I (as an advisor) see the advisement report for an assigned advisee?
      • After navigating to Advisor Center and selecting "View Student Details" for a specific student from the list:

    • What if a student is missing transfer or test credits on their advisement report?
