- The Office of International Engagement offers free Academic Coaching support to international and multilingual students, and international scholars and staff. If you advise a student who could use support in:
- grammar
- writing in English
- public speaking
- and more!

- Academic Advising Essentials Topical Sessions
- This academic year, the Academic Advising Essentials will be divided into 4 separate topical sessions to allow for focused information and exchange in each area. Connecting participants to useful resources (both person(s) and web-based) will also be a goal for each session. Most importantly, we will encourage questions and want you to share your knowledge and ideas through discussion!
- All academic advisors and student success professionals are invited to participate in the live event. No RSVP is required. Each session will also be recorded and posted on the Academic Advising Portal within 5 business days of the scheduled date.
- Each session will be held via Zoom from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. on the dates listed below. Please join in these live zoom events to learn, engage, and ask questions on each of these topics:
- Thursday, September 21 – Academic Advising & Meeting with Students
- Our focus will be on why academic advising is important, what are the foundations of advising, how to conduct your advising meetings (including for general advising, dropping a class, and scheduling/registration), and making effective referrals.
- Thursday, September 28 – Understanding UNIFI
- We will review the new UNI Foundational Inquiry (UNIFI) program with focus on learning area requirements and policies, courses, and the opportunity for students to earn General Education certificates.
- Thursday, October 12 – Reading the Advisement Report
- Take a walk with us through the advisement report as well as discuss policies related to graduation requirements, undergraduate academic standing, and transfer credits.
- Thursday, October 19 – Scheduling & Registration
- We will address scheduling/registration through the questions of what information students should know, how they plan for registration, and what happens at their registration date/time. Using and viewing the student information system (SIS) from both the advisor and student side will be integrated into this session.
- Thursday, September 21 – Academic Advising & Meeting with Students

- Academic Success Workshops for Students
- Academic Success Workshops, offered by The Learning Center@Rod Library, are help every Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in Rod Library 272.
- September 19 & 20 - Organizing Gmail and Google Drive
- Navigate and organize your Google Drive and Gmail account to find the files and and emails you need faster.
- September 26 & 27 - Note Taking
- Learn and practice three popular note taking methods: Cornell, Outlining, and Mapping.
