New Policy: Completing a Subsequent Major, Minor or Certificate AFTER a Degree Conferred from UNI

The Office of the Registrar is announcing the implementation of a new policy for a student to complete a subsequent major, minor or certificate after having a degree conferred from UNI.  Below is the official policy from the UNI catalog as well as additional narrative of clarification on this policy.  Please contact Rachelle Kidwell in the Office of the Registrar Office with questions or for additional information.
****************************************************************************
The Office of the Registrar has implemented a new policy for completing a subsequent major, minor, or certificate after having a degree conferred from UNI. Here is the official policy in the catalog:

Students who are currently in a Post-Bacc 2nd BA program who may not need 32 hours to complete their major, and want to switch to this Post-Bacc major option should submit the Post-Bacc Major form for department approval

Additional Information/Clarification of Policy
Students have always been able to complete minors or certificates after graduating, but now they can complete an additional major without needing the 32 hours to complete a 2nd BA.

Use this link to access the form that the student will use to gain the department approval prior to starting courses for the subsequent major (note that approval is not needed to complete a subsequent minor or certificate). Students can fill out the top section, then submit to the department for review. The department should reach out to the appropriate Record Analyst in my office (letting the RA know the student ID and what major/degree they are intending to seek), and then the RA will provide them with the what-if advisement report in order for them to make the approval. The department will then send the what-if report and signed form to registrar@uni.edu. The form will be on our website.

Students would be in non-degree seeking status while completing courses for a subsequent major. Students would need to let the appropriate Record Analyst in my office know when they are completed with the requirements of the subsequent program, and then we would confirm and add the notation to the transcript.

If the subsequent major they are looking to complete leads to a degree that is different than their first degree (i.e. BA to BS), they will not qualify to do this, they would need to do the 2nd BA process and earn the minimum 32 new hours and graduate with the 2nd degree. Students seeking teacher licensure should continue to apply as the Post-BA Teacher Licensure option

Thanks!
